15 beachside restaurants
1 Comments 28 February 2012 Majlis Al Bahar
Best for: Bringing the ballroom to the beach.
The view: Directly behind the Burj Al Arab, the venue offers exclusive up-close views of Tom Wright’s iconic sail-inspired structure, as well as the private beaches around it.
Get there early to enjoy sunset in style.
The food: A barbecue cooking station offers the bulk of foodstuff at this high-end buffet, but veggies should fear not – there’s an impressive range of seafood including (huge) shrimps, tuna steaks and lobster. Carnivores can enjoy the chunky lamb kebabs, although our favourite is the Arabic-spiced chicken. There’s also a decent salad selection, and
a compact range of dessert nibbles.
Also look out for: The wandering minstrel, happy to serenade each table.
He plays it safe at most tables with Elvis, Sinatra and The Beatles classics, but can whip out some Neil Young on request.
Average price of a meal for two Dhs700-799. Open daily noon-11.30pm. Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah (04 301 7600).
