The Palace, The Old Town

Nominated for Best Afternoon Tea Comments

Setting: Arabian-themed lounge Al Bayt is light, airy and comfortable, with huge squishy chairs, while the al-fresco terrace offers spectacular views of the Burj Khalifa.

The food is beautifully arranged on the tiered cake stand. Tea is served in traditional white-china pots with petite cups and saucers.

Perfectly fresh and wonderfully tasty. The inside-out sandwiches and mini pastries are elegant and nicely crafted, and the scones are better than most we’ve eaten in the UK.

Blends include chamomile, Moroccan, mint and peppermint, while the Chinese tea list features green, white, black and yellow.

Polite, although the language barrier means requests have to be repeated.

Dhs120 per person. Daily 2pm-6pm. The Palace, The Old Town, Downtown Dubai (04 428 7888).

Wonderfull feeling the moment you arrive. It carms you and make you feel so wonderful soft. Romantic, mystical and lovely. The breakfast looking at the pool is amazing. Service great.

Worst possible buffet at Ewaan or watever. A sheer waste of AED 180. Cold food and AC cold breads section. Possibly can have a better buffet at even the tiniest restaurants anywhere in dubai. Six of us went and luckily not all went for the buffet...saved. Had Shisha..paid our bills and left. Adios Palace.
