Highly Commended Best Bar Food 1 Comments
Calabar is cool, urban and modern – the kind of place stylish thirty-somethings chill after work, soaking up the elevated terrace, oblivious to the Dubai Fountains bursting away down below. The food fits as snugly as the chic design, sophisticated tunes and signature drinks. The menu is short, stylish, cosmopolitan and of a high quality – world-fusion tapas is all they do, but darn they do them well. Dancing across the globe from Indian samosas to Latin American empanadas, it’s all novel and exciting, but it’s the (far from traditional) sushi which shines best – the fountain roll is sublime, and the dynamite roll really is a blast (sorry). Most dishes cost around Dhs60, and you’ll need a trio a head to fill up, so it’s more a place to nibble than dine. But if you’re spending an evening in this nightspot, you’d do far worse than to treat yourself to a dish or two alongside your tipple of choice.
