In an undisturbed creekside spot, set apart from the city amid the rolling lawns of The Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club and the Park Hyatt’s greenery, The Terrace offers a rare taste of tranquilly in the heart of Dubai. With a soaring sunset vista in the afternoon, twinkly lights and soothing live jazz come twilight, the bar is as serene as it is stylish. Food-wise, however, it’s a bit of an oddity. The menu can pretty much be divided into three really quite jarring thirds. We expected the few standards on offer – penne, burger, salmon – which form the only main dishes. We’re slightly more confused about the whole page of ‘German tapas’, a cultural mash that we are not unwelcoming to, but certainly took us by surprise. And then there’s a small and pricey ‘seafood bar’ selection. With such a scant choice of dishes, a Dhs120 lobster cocktail (pleasant) jars oddly against a Dhs85 burger (forgettable).
