Alfie's, a modern British vision, created chef Christopher Driver and the Alfred Dunhill brand, offers a strong and well-conceived concept, within a bijou, Mall-based restaurant. Small as it is, Alfie's makes great use of the space, divided between a sophisticated bistro-style dining room in icy tones of blue and grey, a miniscule but classic-looking bar area, and a wonderfully inviting, wood and leather-dressed lounge, with the ambience of a London gentlemen's club. The only issue that muddies these elegantly masculine waters is Alfie's location, since the view, straight onto the Mall corridors outside, is a jarring one. Staff are friendly, obliging and well versed in the menu. It offers a compact and tight list of dishes, combining classic ingredients and typical British dishes, from across the Isles into elevated and elegant representations. While the cooking tends to be very rich, it is well worth sampling delicious creations such as the indulgent plate of smoked haddock and potato hash with poached egg or the peppery haggis with sweet quenelles of swede.
Open daily noon-3pm, 7pm-11.30pm. The Boulevard, Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Sheikh Zayed Road (04 319 8785).

The service is indeed impeccable and the food is excellent - you can't go wrong no matter what you select on the menu. I love the muted decor and the ambiance is just what you would expect from "gentlemen's club". A slight minus is the view directly to the mall corridor, but depending on where you are seated, you may not even notice it.

I absolutely loved Alfie's!

The service is impeccable.
The decor and ambiance are exactly what one would expect from the Dunhill brand.
The star of this restaurant would undoubtedly be the food, there are no words to convey the yummy-ness of the food.

I can't wait to go back!

I really liked it - very much like the food at Rivington Grill or The Ivy.

But it was too bright, they really need to dim those lights.
