As soon as you enter Ottomans, you know you’re in for a romantic hour or two. Candles light your entrance as the soothing trickle of the water feature melts away any of the day’s tension. Out on the restaurant’s terrace you can enjoy spectacular views, and due to the slight breeze, staff helpfully provide guests with shawls to keep warm. In fact the service is some of the best we’ve encountered in Dubai. From the moment you sit, the friendly waiters and waitresses are consistently on hand to replenish drinks, respond to enquiries or take orders, without being overbearing or interfering. The Turkish-inspired food is also excellent, with portions arriving at just the right size, perfectly cooked and delicately flavoured. We particularly enjoyed the pachenga boregi entree, a delicious fried pastry dish that was light, tasty and refreshingly devoid of oily grease. Our only quibble was the bass-driven club music, which felt out of place for the relaxed and chatty atmosphere. High prices aside, it’s difficult to fault this wonderful restaurant.
