With its shabby-chic, funky and colourful decor, this Sheikh Zayed Road Levantine eatery stands out from the crowd. There’s exposed wood throughout, corrugated sheeting sprayed in bright colours and graffiti, and shelves brimming with products and paper lampshades. With its lively open kitchen and food counter benches, it evokes an atmosphere that wouldn’t feel out of place in Tokyo. Further seating can be found upstairs and there’s an intimate little fenced off patio area outside, although the inescapable roar from Sheikh Zayed Road spoils the tranquillity a little. It’s certainly a popular haunt, attracting Dubai’s discerning foodies with its excellent value, tasty Lebanese menu and deli products. Favourites including shawarmas, falafel, fattoush, fresh juices and Levantine sweets and crisp fresh salads are all featured, and the quick, efficient service is first class. If you’re looking for a budget Arabic restaurant with generous portions, Zaroob should be at the top of your list.
All major credit cards accepted. Open daily 9am-3am. Sheikh Zayed Road, www.zaroob.net (04 327 6060).

We visited Friday lunchtime expecting good food and patchy service, judging by the reviews. Maybe we were lucky but we found the Restaurant Managers both excellent and friendly. Our first waiter paid very little attention while ordering, but the nxt waiter was much better. We'll definitley return and see if the first standards are repeated. Two thumbs up

good food worst service.

waited for almost half an hour just for a pot of morrocan tea just to find there's no sugar in it.. when we asked for sugar, the waiter gave us such an unpleasant facial expression "no sugar in it?? rellyyy?" came back few min later, slam the sugar jar on our table. without tea spoon, so we just stir the sugar with a table spoon,we're just not bother to ask anything from them anymore after several call we made to 'the unhappy to assist waitress' because they keep missing something from our food order. what a SHAME!!! n 'the supervisor', was just standing there next to our table, watching us without doing anything. will NEVER ever come back.

not even answering the phone after calling all available numbers and multiple times during working hours. ridicilous!

Posted by: Reem on 08 Feb ' 13 at 15:33

You'd think that they'd attempt to improve their service after receiving multiple complaints about it. Not the case. Service goes from bad to worse. All the floor managers can do is say that they cant do anything about it. They dont even pick up their delivery phone lines. Too bad since their food is good.

Worst service a restaurant can provide. Extremely SLOW service. And the waiters are not so friendly !

Posted by: rasha on 26 Jun ' 12 at 09:15

Extremely poor service waited 10 min for the waiter to com other 20 min without even getting our juices ... and then asked the waitress to cancel our order since at least 4 tables who came after us started eating!!!!!!!!!!! and she did not care... but obviously this is something normal in zarooob

Here is a restaurant that stands out from competitors with a sign that lights up and an eclectic interior (inside is decorated like a bazaar, with a few tables on the ground where customers can place order for multiple tables and take higher ground ). Outside, a terrace and sip animated world of the weekend and discuss benefits of dishes from the restaurant.

The map-based Middle East first proposes a variety of fruit juices. Then the choice, many choices of products such as Mezzes cold or hot, wrap or flat Man'oushe (this is the bread which differs in sanwich), falafel, shawarma, or fateer saj ....

The map is presented on a long piece of paper and you check what you want. The service is friendly and young. The clientele is mainly local and young.

That day I ordered a "Garlic Chicken Wrapped Man'oushe" with french fries.
Fast service within 10 minutes.

Excellent sandwich, composed of salads, chicken, tomatoes, pickles, cheddar, and garlic sauce. Great surprise the fries were good and not frozen.

Very good value for money, AED 25 for all.

I would discover other dishes.

NB: as desserts they propose a saj with nutella, bananas and nuts, a caloriq bomb.

Areas for improvement:
- Damage to the terrace overlooking the road. A bit noisy.

Unfriendly answer over the phone.
The Sandwiches are not to the standard compare to their price, infact not to the Standard period.

I was looking forward to trying this place but was very disappointed. They have the food items they use displayed all over the store so I decided to take a look at the labels.... full of MSG and artificial junk. Cream cheese from a squeezable container?! Meat in a can? Hot dogs in a can? What was I going to eat??!!

Thanks Zaroob for displaying your food items so I know never to return.

Great food, however service is slow and A/C is not working properly.
We waited almost 20 min to order! and another 10 min witing for bill.

Waitress complained of workload and A/C being out of order for 3 weeks.

Otherwise it was a good one time experiance.

Food is so amazing and Chefs are friendly. Nice music and beverages.
However in terms of service I think they need to train and improve more.
Very classy and stunning ambience.
Absolutely go back again.

Extremely poor service !! Waited for almost 30 mins for our starters which were a couple plates of Hummous !!! Food portions are tiny (although tasty) and not worth the price. we had to wait another 20 mins for our bill to arrive ...

I complained to the manager there and he didn't seem to care much !!! Would never recommend it anyone. Better joints down the road from there .... with much better service.

It is a very unique Levant street concept with a fusionised contemporary design & hand made chairs, tables, stools & table ware.

We miss these kind of concepts that relates to the Soul & your childhood experience.

It is combining Food from the alley's of the Levant & Egypt, It has Charcoal Shawarma, Oven Baked Man'ouche, Saj, Egyptian Fateer & Koshare, (Foul, Hommous & Falafel) & Freshly squeezed Juices.

& guess what, prices are Super cheap & the quality is outstanding.

The service is also phenomenon & staff are super friendly.

Dont miss out on Zaroob, you have to pay them a visit.

Better Lebanese food (Saj, Hummus, Haloomi cheese etc) is available at least half a dozen restaurants on SZR. Our waiter was very confused. Saj was very soggy. Portions very small. Would rather go to Zaatar wa Zait or Shakespeare & Co.
