Iz does high-end Indian tapas in fashionable modern surroundings. The menu changes daily and most of the excellent dishes served here are baked in the tandoori.

The food was good and a good mix of the necessary Indian treats and I have been here more than once. However, tonight was the last time I will ever step into this place again!
The service was appalling. Just a few minutes into our order and the after the main course was brought in, it seemed as if the whole team had forgotten we were there in the corner next to the huge window overlooking the fountaints outside. We waited about 15 minutes for the roti rounds and by the time it arrived all the curries were cold and wasnt anywhere near edible.
They came to serve us about two times in total and as the other guests started pouring in just seemed to walk past and not even recognising that we were trying to call for service.
Food was commendable but its definitely not the food alone that will make you re-visit a joint.

I had by default come here on the 15th for the business lunch. The Manhattan Grill restaurant at the Grand Hyatt which is where I was headed to was booked for a private party. Hardly anyone else on business there.
Achars, papadums & chutneys brought in a flourish. The starter consisted of murgh malai tikka, a succulent single piece of cornfed chicken thigh, brocccoli and tandoori mushroom. The mains were butter chicken, dal tadka and jeera pulao delivered together in 3 small bowls looking more like sauces than the main food itself. The way it was presented didn't look very inviting. Roti (Indian bread) served as well. Butter chicken was well flavoured while the dal was just plain. Kulfi falooda was underwhelming with a less sweet and slightly salty taste as though it was made from spoilt milk though I doubt this was the case. To end it all you can have a variety of tea / coffee which I declined.

When we entered the restaurant, we were impressed by the ambience. But when the waited got the menu we were shocked! There were totally only about 20-25 items in the menu. So we ordered for a seekh kebab and the waiter asks us, "well done or rare?" Looking confused we say well done. When they bring it to us , I cud see blood coming out of the kebab.I couldnt believe.I called the manager and fired him. Then he gave us another complimentary one which was ok but tasted pretty bad. The rest of the food was average and i dont think i wud go there again

For me iZ is the best Indian restaurant in town [plus I have ever visited].
The comment, that it is tapas style, really doesn't hit the point, as meet, fish, vegetable can be ordered separate from the tandoor, but there are also great tasting curries, biryiani etc.
May be I cannot eat as much as others, but my checks showing always a minor amount, especially if you consider the quality.
Nowhere else in town you get cornfed chicken tandoori, or Australian lamb chops etc - and if I go to the supermarket, worse quality cost almost as much as the dish in iZ.
Another great thing is the daily changing menu, which boasts duck [never had tandoori duck before] or venison [never had venison in another restaurant in Dubai!!!].

There are two hooks: number one: I think the concept is more targeted to international clientele as to Indians. But this would not bother me further.
Number two: This is actually symptomous to Indian cuisine: you smell, sweat and breath out the spices. My wife is always directly recognizing, when I had lunch or dinner in iZ...

Excellent tandoori food with complimentary bread! Good for special occasions. Value for money. Great ambience.

It was a bit laid down service. Menu changes everyday which is good but with the fact that Indian tapas...it really doesn't go very well. waiters were attentive but its expensive. Value for money matter, I would expect a bit more than the usual restaurant service.
