Deciding the category for best Chinese was difficult this year. But in the end we had to go with last year’s winner, The Noble House. It still serves the most imaginative Chinese fare we’ve seen to date. It startles and delights us with the creativity of some of its dishes. We just can’t help it, we love this place. We love the view of Dubai from Raffles’ terrace, we love the food and we love the service.

The food was excellent (apart from the dessert, but that's personal choice as I don't think I've ever found a dessert I've enjoyed in a Chinese restaurant). The decor was 'interesting' - trying to be too many things at once and not succeeding in any of them. I definitely agree with the comments about the chairs - while visually appealing they were highly impractical. The lighting was poor and the floors were quite polished and slippery so going to and from the bathrooms after a glass or two of vino collapso was quite an adventure. Service was friendly, apart from the pompous sommelier, but the ambience was poor and overall we left with a feeling of 'meh'.

This resturant too much exaggerating in their prices as if they are the only resturant in this world.

There is nothing Noble about this plce.

Several months on I still have the receipt from the evening sat on my desk as a talisman to remind me never to go to another over-hyped restaurant in Dubai ever again.

Dhs 1776 for dinner for two with one bottle of wine and a bottle of water.

And it simply was not worth it.

The food was bland. I was bloated from the extra food that they keep bringing you (unasked for) between courses.

The chairs are simply rediculous - my partner had to request two cushions to enable her to reach the table - so she felt like a child on a booster seat. It was humiliating.

The designer clearly did not think about lighting - the waiters have to bring you torches to read the menu. This is not cool. This is a huge admission that the lighting is poor.

I have simply no idea why you thought it was good enough to be restaurant of the year. It is not.

Why why why did this restaurant receive the highest possible accolade achievable in Dubai. Perhaps it was the decor which swayed the Time Out Dubai Best Restaurant judges. Perhaps the Maxtrix's Neo-style pouring of the ginger and lemon grass tea. Or was it that the judges had partaken in one too many of the restaurants extensive - yet extortionately priced - bottles of the grapey stuff. Whatever it was, from my experience, it certainly couldn't have been the tasting menu which was average and, again, well overpriced. Nor could it have been the 'form-over-function' chairs which couldn't be accessed or exited without assistance from the over-attentive restaurant staff. I could go on - but it wouldn't be positive. Insert your own Matrix joke here, I can't be bothered ...
