Pompeii Italian Restaurant & Café

  • Pompeii Italian Restaurant & Café
Decked out in faux-exposed brick and housing red pottery replicas of ancient Roman artefacts, this Italian restaurant in JLT is best described as offbeat rustic. The aubergine parmagiana starter is rich and cheesy, topped with fragrant herbs, and it’s an ambitious way to start the meal, considering its large proportions. Steer clear of the ravioli pastas and instead opt for one of the many wood-fired pizzas. There are plenty of toppings to dig into, including chicken, mushroom and pesto, anchovies and capers with basil, as well as their own take on the traditional meat-lovers’ choices, known here as Carne Pompeii. Adventurous eaters and heat-seekers can tuck into a tikka pizza among a range of spicy options. The dessert menu is rather limited (tiramisu or cheesecake) and don’t expect anything earth-shattering, but for what it is, this restaurant does the trick. Pompeii Italian Restaurant & Café

Been there twice to try out the menu and the overall ambience is great, nice stretched sofa and hand-wash area. Unfortunately, only 1-2 tables are occupied every time i was there.
I agree with the reviewer about his experience on the food. Pizza is average, pasta portions are fine but was bland to my liking. The risotto fungi is probably the best among the other things in the menu. The calamari portion for small for the price and was weirdly breaded.
Overall - average experience except for the ambience, relative to other JLT places.

Went with my husband and my puppy to have something to eat, and as soon as we got there, i asked the waiter if we can seat outside with the puppy (corner table, in an empty restaurant with a quiet dog), which answered "yes, its no problem mam", but almost instantaneously a man came from the inside saying that the dog is not allowed!!
1st restaurant with outside area which is not dogs friendly!
Shame on them...definitely they've lost these clients (as a lot of other dog owners in JLT) and i don't really recomend!!
