German theme restaurant with homely feel and friendly staff
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011If you’re in any doubt about the theme at Hofbrauhaus, the cheery staff that greet you at the door will soon dispel any confusion. Clad in traditional German lederhosen, their garb ties in nicely with the venue’s homely decor – stout dark-wood furniture, European knick-knacks and scattered brewery paraphernalia transport diners into the world of a smoky Munich beer hall, while the speakers blurt out oompah-band covers of popular Euro tunes.
If the atmosphere wasn’t so warm and friendly, the whole thing would be in danger of descending into kitsch; as it is, the regular patrons supping pints at the bar give Hofbrauhaus an air of authenticity (albeit with a Middle Eastern twist). The menu is awash with hearty Teutonic staples: bratwurst, frankfurters, meat loaf and meatballs are all served with a generous dollop of sauerkraut, and the hops menu boasts an impressive round-up of authentic brews. One word of warning: the portions here are sizeable, and the heavy nature of German food means you’ll probably need to loosen your belt to have any hope of tackling the sinfully stodgy apple strudel. I have been going to Hofbrauhaus since Fall of 2009. It is by far my favorite restaurant in Dubai, with excellent beer, wonderful staff, experienced and craftily chefs, and an ambiance that is truly reminiscent of Bavaria.
HB is good for just one, a nice romantic dinner away, or the whole family. They've set a high standard for quality and excellence, and they continually exceed at that.

Me and my buddy are beer conneseurs, and sought out this place. Upon arriving, we took a picture of the restraunt, which looks like a real German beer pub. The manager greeted us outside and said we should have beers for the photos so he ran inside and grabbed us two HUGE beer mugs full of German beer. Nice! This place, with the Belgian Cafe, have the best beer in Dubai. I recommend the hefelweisen. I ordered the meatloaf, and after the 1st gianormous beer and the bread appetiser, I could only eat a tiny bit of the large portion. It was fantastic tho. I did find a broken toothpick in one of my beers. When I told our very happy and helpful REAL German waiter, he was very appologetic and didn't charge us for ANY of the beer! Sweet! They play real folk German music, half the people there appeared to be authentic German, they had German TV on, it was cool.
