I went to the Pantry Cafe earlier this week under the recommendation by a friend who said I should try it as I love bespoke cafes and decent ones are rare to find in Dubai. First impressions when walking in with my husband was that the decor was very well done and it was busy which is usually a good sign. After taking a seat outside, we had to wait about 10 minutes to gain the attention of staff for a menu. The menu at first glance seemed very comprehensive for a 'cafe'. As I was interested in breakfast I ordered the porridge (or oatmeal), a soya cappuccino and mixed fruit juice. My husband ordered the club sandwich and a regular cappuccino. When the drinks arrived, as my husband and I are avid coffee drinkers we were incredible disappointed, the coffee was very poor in the way it was made and with further investigation at the counter we saw that the special varieties of coffees they offered on their menu are capsules instead of fresh coffee.... We had to wait about 40 minutes for the food. My dish was missing the main elements as described on the menu - when I informed a staff member - I was given the brief explanation that they had run out of all of the ingredients. As a general rule a customer should be informed of this before finalizing their order. To conclude...only Voss water is available, something that is a pet peeve of mine, local water should also be an option especially in a "cafe". I doubt we will be going back any time soon as it seems that the 'teething problems' from their opening are still present.

went to this restaurant about a month ago on a Saturday. Service was very, very slow. Staff looked lost and confused, along with their manager. I ordered the burger and one of their fruit cocktails drink, after several minutes of waiting for my drink and reminding the staff of my drink I was told that they were out of watermelon juice, so I asked for another drink after a few more minutes I was told again they were out of green apple juice and red apple juice, so I ordered a drink without any of these juices after getting my burger and no drink I was told that they were out of grape juice, so I ended up with iced tea.
I was not the only one that was going thru this hassle, the other diners sitting next to me were also going thru their own complaints. Apparently they had ordered a dish without feta cheese and when the dish came it had cheese on it and he returned back to the kitchen. After waiting and waiting for their food and asking three staff about their food it was finally brought out but to their surprised it was the same dish they returned but with the sprinkle feta cheese removed from the top but the food was still cooked with feta cheese.
I wanted to give this place a second chance and went back again for Iftar, so I chose the last week of Ramadan and on a weekday.
My table was one of five tables, so clearly it was not busy and I though maybe I had some advantage. They had a set menu for Iftar , the Arabic Mezze was terrible, it had some kind of processed left over ground up meat shaped into kebabs, some round shape bread, hard as a rock, I was not even able to bite into it. I told the waiter of this and the manager came and told me that she had looked into it and she agreed and asked to see if she can re-do the dish again, I told her I did not want the dish again. The mains were ok, nothing special. I can get better food somewhere else

While the food and the ambiance were great, the service was horrible. Waitresses were equipped with electric devices to help "punch in" orders for fast delivery, the food took 45 minutes. Once the food was here it was almost impossible.

Food was okay - ordered an arabic breakfast dish that was tasty but the eggs were dry. Worst thing is all the tables of screaminig children who were joining mom for her coffee morning. Its a cafe and not a nursery!

I visited the pantry cafe last week with friends. I was excited about the location and outdoor seating seemed very appealing. However we were in for a huge disappointment. I dod nt understand why its called "pantry cafe" when there is nothing "cafe-ish" about this place. I ordered a chicken salad (forgot the name) that was supposed to come with an orange flavored dressing and my friends went for the thai green curry. The salad was disgusting - the chicken had a bad smell and taste and the dressing was just vile. The thai green curry was just average and the 78 that we paid for it was not justified at all. I have had much better curries at far lower prices. The smoothies and juices were okay. Another problem we faced was that our table was just attacked by flies that wouldnt let us eat our food in peace. I know this isnt the cafe's fault but its just a heads up for anyone who wants to sit outside. Overall our experience was very unpleasant. The place is far too overpriced for the quality of service and food offered.
