You could easily walk straight past this unassuming restaurant in Karama, but you’d be missing out if you did. Inside, Sallet Al Sayad feels traditional and cosy, with dark wood furnishings and a fish bar near the entrance. There’s a concise menu here, with selection of mezze and salads, plus plenty of seafood mains. You’ll find grouper, shrimps, crab, lobster, sea bream and sea bass among others on the list. If you need help with the menu, the staff will helpfully guide you through, with diners asked how spicy they want their dishes to be and offered a selection of preparation methods: grilled, fried or steamed. The fish is served up well-seasoned with Arabic spices, without being overpowering, while the fish is cooked perfectly. This is a clean and simple restaurant that doesn’t skimp on flavour, with friendly staff and even friendlier prices.
