Following on from the DIFC branch, a second outlet of The Magazine Shop (think a café-cum-gallery, with a workspace vibe) seemed like a perfect fit for the creative hub that is Dubai Media City. It’s encased in glass from the outside, but inside, a great job has been done of achieving a bleak and barely dressed warehouse look. The walls, all bare white, are adorned with an interesting selection of magazines, style journals and coffee table books, which you are encouraged to read. Food choices are fairly minimal, with a very small number of sandwiches and salads unenthusiastically displayed in a glass counter. There is, however, an extensive variety of coffee on offer. The gazpacho soup is finely and thinly blended, though it lacks a bit of subtlety. The smoked salmon bagel is also pleasant, with a nice addition of dill and spinach. Despite its limited range of food, the environment is very appealing with an efficient workspace and reading room.
