This casual JLT eatery has a fun and lively vibe, and street food with an urbanised edge. Even from outside, Wokyo seems inviting, partly because of the friendly staff that welcome you inside, and partly because of the young and vibrant look of its interiors. The appearance is a mixture of fuchsia pink, pine-coloured seating and concrete grey. The staff are very friendly and pleasant, while prompt at taking orders and bringing food. As for the food, the menu concept at Wokyo is a very simple-but-effective mishmash of ingredients prepared however you wish. Choose a sauce from a pan-Asian selection, then opt for steamed rice or one of the selections of noodle varieties, a protein (chicken, beef, prawns, tofu or vegetables) and finally any added extras and side dishes. It’s not quite Tokyo in a wok, but it’s not bad either. The restaurant feels fun and young, and it’s a good spot for a quick and satisfying answer to the munchies.
