There are more and more Emirati restaurants opening up around the city and at Seven Sands, down at The Beach, you can feast on local food while gazing out to sea. It’s a scenic location, but even if you don’t have a view out of the window, the décor makes it a pleasant place to be. Arabesque motifs are carved into staircases and partitions, and the large windows make it light and airy. The menu is full of Emirati classics, but you’ll also see dishes from the wider region. When it comes to the starters, you can’t go wrong with the substantial cold mezze selection or the rich and crumbly kibbeh. But don’t miss out on the chance to try some of the more traditional options, the best of which are found from the choice of main courses. The fouga – served with chicken, shrimp or fish – comes as a mountain of flavoured rice for seriously hungry diners. Some of the grills don’t impress as much, especially the slightly dry kebabs. But from thereed stew to Emirati vegetable pie, there are plenty of interesting local dishes to sink your teeth into.
