Y ou definitely think you’ve seen the Dubai skyline from every possible angle, don’t you? We know we did. Then we visited The Terrace.
Stuck out at the edge of the Creek, off Ras Al Khor road, you’ll find a showroom for the new Emaar development Dubai Creek Harbour. On the other side of the showroom is The Terrace, which is not much more than a few a tables and chairs, some hammocks and beanbags, with the Vida Food Truck on hand to serve up some tasty treats.
Maybe we’re too cynical, but this very picturesque setting is a wonderful selling point for the upcoming real estate that will be built around it. It’s peaceful, with stunning views – being here really feels like you’ve escaped from the city.
Whether it feels like that when the huge development is complete remains to be seen, but for now, it’s pretty much the perfect spot to enjoy a lazy weekend breakfast.
So, the clever people behind the venture have started a brunch every Friday and Saturday.
It runs between 10am and 3pm and features salads, pastries, cheeses and other cold cuts, unlimited coffees, fresh fruit juices, iced teas and mocktails. It also features a hot buffet (with lamb chops, grilled prawns and steaks) and food available from the Vida truck.
The welcome could be better, as it takes us a while to ascertain how it all works. But it’s quite simple – pay, get a wristband and then eat and drink as much as you want.
The food from the truck is the highlight. The pulled beef burger is a definite winner, as are the eggs Benedict.
The dishes are so filling and of excellent quality that after one round, we’re pretty much done.
But for Dhs99, who’s really counting?
The Bill (for two) 2x brunch Dhs198 Total Dhs198
The bottom line This is an unbeatable spot for a different view of Dubai and a chilled-out morning, with tasty, unpretentious food.
