Sri Lankan food in Karama
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009You get plenty of bang for your buck here, as daily lunch and dinner buffets offer red-hot Sri Lankan curries of potato, meat or fish, plus plenty of pickles and loads of bread.
Try the string shoppers (a circular steamed red rice meal), or the kingfish curry and koththu roti (soft, chopped roti bread stir-fried with chicken, leeks, tomatoes and carrots), all deliciously spiced and presented.
We also recommend the breakfast, see box below, which is sure to wake you up in the morning. Takeaway and delivery are available too. Chef Lanka

chef lanka have opened their branch in discovery gardens and i had to try it (being a die hard srilankan food fan)!!!
was not dissappointed at all, the beef curry (you can even opt for a 1/2 serving which i did) was just amazing. it was spicy to the extent that i had sweatbeads on my forehead but it was too delicious to stop eating!! the godambi roti (like a paratha) was fresh, hot and had just the right amount of oil to make it pliable without being oily.
we also had the prawn curry which had a delicious gravy with fresh spices and curry leaf and the shrimps were large and juicy.
the goodness of the meal was topped off with the amazing feeling that it set us back by a mere 48 dhs!!!
I walked out telling myself that this was one of the best meals in a restaurant i have had in a long long time and like i mentioned to the smiling cashier as i left...."i will be back."
i have already decided from the menu what i will sample on my next visit!!! which incidently is going to be very soon.

The restaurant serves Sri Lankan and Chinese food. The food is tasty, portion size is generous and the service is fine. Overall its worth the money you pay. I would definitely like to go back to this restaurant.

Good place because it is one of the few places for Sri Lankan food. definitely does NOT represent the traditional Sri Lankan standards of hospitality.
hope they are given better competition to motivate better service.

We ordered New Year sweets (oil Cakes, Kokis, Athirasa) in the month of April (for New Year Festival) and this order was being made well ahead and Chef Lanka was supposed to deliver it on the day before at 8 pm on 13th April 2010. Time was ticking and no sign of the dilevery guy and once we inquired as to why the delay was they mentioned to us that Oil Cakes are over and there are few left overs of different kinds of sweets!!!
This message is for Sri Lankans don't ever order from Chef lanka for New year sweets.. They ditch you last minute...
