Thanks to Gwyneth Paltrow, drinking your smoothies in shades of green, purple and red has become a huge trend. Milkshakes no longer have the same ring to them as an almond milk concoction with sprouts, spinach, beetroot, banana, spirulina, honey and chia seeds. @blend on the Palm Jumeirah is one of those juice and smoothie bars that you can stop off and take away a venti detox concoction and carry on with your day. Every smoothie and juice, and all nibbles on the menu, has its number of calories and protein value helpfully written down alongside it, and those drinks are seriously impressive. Less can be said for the food, though, sadly. Breakfast options include omelette, pancakes and chia seed pudding, but we go for something more substantial – the oatmeal pancakes and Thai tuna wrap. The former could do with another ten minutes on the stove, while the latter is too soggy to be enjoyable. @blend still has a long way to go as far as food is concerned. Head straight for those smoothies and juices.
