We love finding interesting, new places to eat serving tasty food. And in Wise Kwai we have another to add to that list.
The Thai restaurant has so far flown under the radar. The pristine lobby of the DusitD2 Kenz in Barsha Heights gives nothing about Wise Kwai away. Once you open the pink door you’re transported into a kitsch, cinema-themed dining room, filled with Thai movie memorabilia (the eatery takes its name from a classic Thai film). It’s quiet on both our visits, but that doesn’t detract from a quirky, welcoming vibe.
The staff are unbelievably charming. They’ll help you navigate the menu and make recommendations, and we advise you to take them.
From curries to soups and salads to noodles, there’s plenty here for newbies to Thai cuisine, as well as for those who are a bit more experienced. Dishes are packed with flavour (and as much spice as you like) and is served on handmade crockery and in colourful pots and tiffin boxes.
The classics are all great (try pad Thai noodles) or go for the steamed sea bass for something a little different. Desserts and sides also hit the mark.
For a good-value, relaxed Thai meal, this is really up there.
The bottom line Fun, friendly and tasty. A real gem.
