Had a meal there last week. Pasta was cold!!! Our white wine was NOT chilled and we had to wait 40 minutes for our food!
I complained and nothing was done about it, we still had to pay for horrible food and warm wine! -

They had me with 1/2 price Peroni at happy hour (5 days 5-8). The view of the Burj Al Arab and the Gulf is fantastic. The pool activities are annoying but subsides with darkness. The grossly overpriced and mediocre food is a big disappointment. They need a new menu and a real chef. They do a nice job on the calamari though. Contrary to other writers, you are no better off at Barca, Cabana, or Bidi Bondi . . . If just one of these places god the mix right, people would flock to it.

Am surprised by the scathing review (as well as its mention of three cuisines- it was purely Italian when we went so I presume that this is an outdated review) as I was very pleasantly surprised by this discovery on the Palm. The goats cheese salad starter was a good sized portion that would have made a nice light dinner, the salmon was cooked perfectly and the burger and moreish chips hit the right note- not to mention the chocolate fondant which was gushed about by our table. Service was friendly, and any small hiccups could be easily overlooked, as they were too minuscule to mention. Not sure why there are such vitriolic reviews for this perfectly nice Italian neighbourhood spot, (it all sounds a little bit political) which admittedly isn't going to win any originality awards but is a sound choice if you are in that area.

Dreadfull Manager!! You will be better off next door at Barca or Bedi Bondi. The pool full of kids screeming and the old nice atmosphere has long gone.

Not only the returant but the whole of Alshalal Beach Club has gone down hill lately underits new management. The staff have been replaced by new team who do not have to tell how unhappy they are despite their hard work. The manager seems to be obsessed by lining uo tables, chairs, never mind the customers and their needs. The place has become as a money grabbing business. It is over priced for the quality of the food and service. It is enough to know that the residendents of the tow buildings attached to the culb have abandend the club. I do not recomend it and I will not definetly go back their where its neibours clubs have more of a freindly and welcoming atmosohere.

first....this is NOT italian restaurant.
and I agree with Barbara....disgusto should be the proper name
I'm not going somewhere only for the view....the view is free and doesn't calm my appetite!!!
there, we paid high bill compared with low and poor quality -

Truly appalling standards of service and a chef who clearly has no idea of how to cook fish or steaks to his customers' liking. One member of our party finally received her meal after everyone else had finished, while another simply gave up and left after waiting an hour and a half for her salmon to arrive. You're much better off heading next door to Barca.

Maybe slightly expensive for the quality and ammount, but the outside ambience and view are worth of it. Don't expect a gastronomic miracle, but be prepared for relaxed and enjoyable time. We're going to repeat this lovely afternoon!

My visit to Gusto was wonderful,it was one of the greatest experience ever I had,The panoramic view it has is unrivalled,it is in a great location. The service was extremely exceptional. At around 6.00pm when I popped into the pool bar bartender's warm welcome was really genuine.by the time he mentioned me about the happy hour i was surprised, one pint of beer for 16 Dirhams..and they have shisha as well.that was the best place ever i enjoyed an apple shisha together with a pint of beer.

I also disagree with this review, I feel it's not very independent and highly exaggerated ''chlorine was making us dizzy!'' and ''Not up to the standards that we would expect from somewhere with a Palm address'' well I suggest you try Bidi Bondis..This restaurant is far superior to anything else on offer in the shoreline buildings.
I've been to this restaurant on a number of occasions and have always enjoyed my meals there. I opted for the chicken pasta and goats cheese salad to start. The ambience is fab and it's a great place to bring children. It's very chilled out and not stuffy like too many places in Dubai.. -

In general the food was disapointing, small portions and too expensive, especially taking the quality into consideration. We got a Chicken Breat Pasta for 70dhs, with cut slices of the chicken breast slices you have for sandwiches! We have never seen that before on a Pasta, especially not for that price. Wine and Beer very expensive and quite poor quality wine.

I totally disagree with the review above. Gusto has a lovely atmosphere pool side where there is not a hint of chlorine in the air from the obvious salt water pool. The caesar salad is a lovely option to start even with out the optional shrimp or chicken. I went for the prawn risotto that had some of the largest prawns I have seen and the risotto was cooked to the perfect consistency and is sure not to disappoint. However Gusto is not a dessert place if you have visions of a lovely chocolate concoction that comes looking like a mini pizza you will be sadly disappointed by the taste of the bland base. Gusto is great for a quick bite or to sit and chat outside with friends eating for hours.
