I would say yummy for the food, anytime, it's something special and unique. As for the service, I have never been able to get a good service from the guys working there, they are either lazy or have the "dont care, we are doing you a service by serving you" attitude. Try to get them to deliver your food and most certainly if you order lunch, you might get it for dinner - that is if you are lucky. Recently I ordered lunch from them, order was given at around 11 in the morning and when it had not been delivered even at 1.00pm I called them again. I was told that they have a lot of monthly orders to deliver and so I have to wait and finally after making a few more calls, my lunch arrived at 2.00 pm. Such a shame that the management dont do anything to improve the service and teach their staff to be courteous.

As a massive fan of Sri Lankan food and a regular at Chef Lanka, i have been trying to find the infamous 2nd Sri Lankan restaurant in Dubai. Was delighted to finally end up in a traffic jam outside it last week and took my husband along for a surprise dinner. Granted the ambience / decor is not up to much (imagine an eccentric food court) and at first i was ready to turn back. But the food was excellent, and the service was very attentive.
In order to compare it to other SL restaurants we stuck to a rather unadventurous Chicken curry, rice, cashew curry, daal and chicken kotu roti. All were exceptionally good - though it would be nice to see one SL restaurant use the better cuts of chicken in the curry - though it is authentic with all the boney bits. Especially liked the meaty kotu roti, and the daal / Cashew curry were incredibley flavoursome. All this was ample to feed 2 people, and came to 70 Dhirams.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant for lunch (when they do special meal deals - traditional rice and curry) or for a quick dinner. It's not exactly going to impress a date, but if you're looking for some cheap, quick, spicy, tasty homecooked food, this is definitely a winner!
