Casa Maria’s on Map

There was a very greasy smell as we walked inside, I was willing to overlook this thoguh as it is a Mexican restaurant. The waiter wasn't very friendly, quite gruff, until two of his friends came in and he was all smiles. The food was average tasting, the best thing being the complimentary salsa and chips. The biggest let down however, was when we were served Indian chapatti in lieu of flour tortillas. Chapatti does not complement chicken fajitas. We had eaten and left within 45 minutes, disappointed.

It was Inside the Market.
Lunch set was not available today, so I ordered the Fajita Half.
She recommended the half size for me and it was enough for 1 woman.
Fajita was with wakamol, frifoles(creamed beans), cheese cream and rice. The rice's taste was exactly the same as I ate in Mexico!

After mulling over the other restaurants around decided to try Casa Maria's for lunch, and was really pleased I did - they had a lunch offer of a soup, main, desert and drink for Dhs39 and the food was amazing for the price (even at full price it would have been more than worth it).
Went for the soup of the day (avocado) which was very tasty, steak fajitas that came with a massive plate full of toppings and then a desert of crepes with ice cream.
Went back a couple of days later and had a chicken soup (which had a really good amount of actual chicken in), a shrimp main (name escapes me, it was excellent) and the crepes again.
The only thing that would make the place better would be a licence to sell alcohol, it's a tad cruel to see so many Corona branded things around without being able to drink one :)

Another Thursday night and I cant be bothered to cook, hey its the weekend ! We venture down to our local Market place in the Greens Community with an open mind and a hungry belly. We pass the usual line of eateries with waiters trying to coax us into having dinner with them to be finally pursuaded to have Mexican at Casa Maria's.
We were seated outside under a huge tree.. ah natural A/C !
Menu came and we ordered, but within seconds we has a bowl full of Tortilla chips and two bowls of the most yummy salsa. This salsa so yummy that I wanted to take this home and drizzle it over everything I eat including my cereal at breakfast ! The tortillas were devine.. removed from cooking 10 seconds earlier to give it that 'al dente' quality which I love.
I ordered Burritos and my fellow diner fajitas. The plate was huge with a buritto the size of a shoe ! The greedy person inside me smiled with delight at the size of the portion. It came with spicy rice which I jazzed up with the salsa from the tortillas, refried beans, yummy guacamole and sour cream that was whipped slightly so it wasnt heavy and claggy.
The Burritos and fajitas were perfectly spiced with mine being chicken and my fellow, steak.
We washed this down with some Habiscus juice which to be honest did taste nice at first but was watered down with the sheer amount of ice to nothing !
This place is a mexican jewel !
All in all, i enjoyed this place very much and will definetly come back :)
