Smiling BKK

South East Asian

  • Smiling BKK
As any old school Dubaian will tell you, Smiling BKK is a bona fide piece of the emirate's dining history. But times have changed. Known for kooky framed pictures, ripped magazine pages and Thai tourist T-shirts lining every inch of wall, this is no longer the only independent eatery spouting Western-tinged irony with reckless abandon. Some of the venue's natural charm and relaxed vibe has been necessarily curbed. Still, such complacency thankfully hasn't crept into the kitchen – the food is still decent. The classic red curry and tom yum are both hard to fault. Yet while the wares remain up to scratch, for most the food was only half of the story to this once-unique spot. Smiling BKK

The highlight of my experience with BBK is the horrible service. it definitely didn't leave me smiling. It took more than 2 hours for the food to be delivered. The food is mediocre, the manager and other staff that take the phone orders are rude and should not be working in a restaurant.

if this is what Thai restaurant service is like I will never step food in thailand

beware this hole in the wall. Mediocre food, horrible service

Don't waste your time and money in this restaurant.
The service is extremely poor, the food in general lacks quality and authenticity.
I lived in Bangkok for sometime and i can tell you that this restaurant has nothing to do with authentic Thai food.
    This is what i ordered:
    -Tom Yum (Acceptable)
-Grilled beef salad (Unbelievably bad and full of fat)
-Green Curry (It tasted Mainly coconut, very bad)
-Pad Thai (Poor, the dish looked like leftover)
This is probably the worse Thai i had in Dubai, save your money and go somewhere else.
