We went with a lot of expectations, because we saw mostly Chinese customers, but were hugely disappointed with the food, the service and the attitude. The waiting staff DO NOT speak English well, (well, barely), and you end up ordering the wrong dishes. We ordered a beef hot pot which ended up being a stew of beef tendons – like arteries – zero meat!! We asked for them to take it away, but they charged us regardless. The chicken was at best OK, the greens we had were mediocre and soggy. Perhaps Friday night was a bad night after all. Lang Kwai Fong next door is a hundred times more consistent, better staffed, and the food is genuinely authentic chinese. Frankly, we could have been ok with the food, but the service waitresses were so pathetic, we recommend do not ever go there!

I regularly go there with my wife as the food is as good as you get in China. On top it is cheap so compared to other fancy and expensive restaurants, here you know that what you pay ends up on your table, not in the decorations around you...
One of their best dishes in my opinion is the fresh (still alive when you choose it) hammour steamed with Sichuan pepper sauce. Simply delicious! And with the rest of the fish (bones, head...) they can make an excellent soup.
Rice is good as well and coming in decent size bowls, quite important for Chinese food!
There is another location for the same restaurant, on Deira side, close to Fish round-about. This one is even more traditional, there are usually 90% Chinese customers in. The one in Oud Metha is rather cattering to parties and Chinese tour buses (a good sign as well in regards to the type of dishes and price-quality of the food).
