Brick Lane

  • Brick Lane
We were sceptical, we admit, about the premise of the general theme of this eatery, being ‘authentic Indian food, straight from the UK’. Inside, you’ll find pictures of iconic London buses, post boxes and, funnily enough, a poster of the film Brick Lane. This may produce a yearning for chicken tikka masala, but you’ll be missing out if you stick to what you know from this menu. Go slightly off piste and try the Goan chicken curry – you won’t be disappointed. Wonderfully spiced, with hints of lemon and cardamom pods, it isn’t as creamy as you might expect, but it packs a punch in sheer freshness. Elsewhere, the sag aloo is perfect – think equal doses of spinach and delicately spiced potatoes. You may find the sag gosht a little heavy, but the lamb is beautifully cooked and combines well with a chicken dish. Brick Lane

very disappointing, we had 4 different curry dishes and had they not been different colours you would never have known the difference. seems like they used cooking sauce from the jars, very bland, very watery, no way is this similar to british curries. just a rip off using the union jack to bump up the prices

The only thing London about Brick Lane is the prices.
The food was not British Indian cuisine.
The lamb & chicken had clearly been pre-cooked on its own & added to relevant sauce/curry upon order.
Not many lentils in the dhansak & have not had pineapple in it before in UK.
    Mean portions.
    Slow delivery.
VERY expensive for what it was.
So disappointed - the name gives you expectations that the food does not deliver. Rip off.

    Best for:
I had high hopes for this place but was let down. I would not order from here again the Butter Chicken was so sweet and not what you would get in UK , especially as they claim to be a true brit curry place . The food was cold when it arrived and the onion bhajis were very greasy . I have to say i will be going back to Indian restaurant i normally use in motor city who i think serves the best Indian food i have ever tasted.
