This family-friendly restaurant with its banquet-style decor is tucked in the Iranian Club in Oud Metha and, unlike other Iranian restaurants in town, here you’ll need to cover your shoulders and hair to sit down for a meal (if you don’t have a scarf handy, security has spares). The salad buffet has a range of the usual dips and flavours you’d expect, and everything tastes crisply fresh and tasty from the houmous to the tabouleh and fattoush salads.
The kebabs for mains, arguably the most important part of Iranian cuisine, are a different affair – the chicken kebab is bland, oozing fat and undercooked, while the veal shishilik kebab is worse. The doogh buttermilk to wash it all down with will probably be the saving grace, which isn’t saying much. What will however win you over in this place is the charming service (staff genuinely seemed to care about whether we were enjoying our meal). Come here for the novelty factor, but we’d stick to just the buffet.
