Grill Corner

  • Grill Corner
You don't go to Grill Corner for the atmosphere. A small, thin, canteen-like dining spot housing just 14 tables in total, the main sensory stimulation comes from six backlit pictures of food, four wall fans, a TV and a radio. Still, there's a reason this backstreet-style eatery off Satwa roundabout is invariably busy with Filipino expats – and that would be the authentically Filipino food. A cuisine criminally under-catered for, especially considering the size of Dubai's expat population, this is a thoroughly decent bet to sample the country’s staples. Newbies can't go wrong with a tapsilog, a set plate combining meat, fried rice and egg into a meal, all for just Dhs15. For your next visit, try one of the pancit dishes (fried noodles), a similarly rumbling tum-filler also at Dhs15. More adventurous souls should splash out Dhs28 on the signature seafood kare-kare, a rich traditional gravy dish which goes well with rice or noodles alike. Grill Corner

Highly recommended, particularly the bulalo (beef marrow soup). Cheap but generous and very tasty portions, we tried bulalo, tapsilog, chicken sisig and sweet and sour prawn - couldnt find fault with any of them. Neat presentation of condiments, as well as hygienic state of whole restaurant- well done!

I've never heard of this resto until I read this review... and boy, was I in for a treat!!! i loved everything that my family and I ordered and you were right about the price - it was pleasantly affordable! and surprisingly, there was something for my picky Arab boyfriend - he chose to have the fried hammour with chips and it was delish! although the cramped space was a bother, it was too small an issue compared to the delectable food! so kudos to you my friend for this rave review! i would definitely go back to satwa's grill corner - even if i live in faraway barsha :)
