Sanjeev Kapoor’s Khazana Restaurant

Indian & Pakistani

  • Sanjeev Kapoor’s Khazana Restaurant
If you’ve never been to Al Nasr Leisureland before, it might seem like the place has been long abandoned. But there are signs of life at this ageing entertainment complex, including eccentric Indian eatery Sanjeev Kapoor’s Khazana. Entering the restaurant is an assault on the senses: it’s dark, decked out in a fake stone effect to make it look like a cave in places, with a rather loud water feature in one corner and jangly music playing in the background. Service, though, is slick and professional, if not overly friendly, with orders taken quickly. Like the decor, the food here isn’t subtle. Dishes pack a punch, such as the peppery lazeez tikka masala and the almost overpowering jalali jheenga, consisting of plump prawns marinated to an extent that you lose count of the flavours. It might be slightly unusual, but Khazana adds a bit of fun to the dining experience. Sanjeev Kapoor’s Khazana Restaurant

Very disappointing. have been a couple of times before, and always enjoyed the food, and generally the service. Today however:
    1) the prices seemed higher than before, especially the breads. They equaled those of 5-star hotels, without the rest of the 5-star perks!
    2) AFTER we placed our order (4 dishes for 4 people, water and a drink), the waiter repeatedly asked us if we wanted more items - appetizers, soups, salad, raita, drinks. We ordered some bread and just as we were telling him we wanted more later, he said that we'd need more. Frankly, with that attitude, even if I wanted to order more food, it would put me off from doing so.
    3) The signature dish, Shyam Savera, which we always order and love, arrived and the paneer was tough and rubbery, not at all soft. Very disappointing.
    4) When the food arrived, the waiter forgot to order one of the dishes, so it didn't show up with the rest of the meal. It did come soon after, but was clearly made in a hurry.
That was the last straw. He was so busy trying to get us to order more items, that he didn't even pay attention to what we DID order.
Frankly, I was really tempted not to pay for that one dish. A restaurant that prides itself on really good customer service would have waived it by themselves, but they didn't. Its a pity. But this was a special occasion, and we selected this restaurant over others. Since there are SO many amazing Indian restaurants in Dubai rather than make a fuss over one dish, the 4 of us have decided not patronize them in the future.

Staff Attiude was such as if were unhappily forced to work.
Overall Award winning restaurents should be re revisited and reviewed. after certain period. This is overpriced normal place with only dish names special in it..

The food has always been good- been there about 4-5 times & my son rates the Butter Chicken as best in the world, but we've often had a few niggles with the billing.
Once, we were charged for 2 portions of masala papad, when we had ordered just 1. On bringing this to the notice of the waiter, he told us that he brought us 3 papads instead of the usual 2 which come in a portion.
So he decided to get us 1 & a half portions & bill us for 2, although we had ordered 1 ( & it was all served on 1 plate)!
Another time, when we were using a "2 for 1" coupon for a main dish, the waiter refused to treat the biryani as a main dish. He said they only consider " curry" as a main dish. We had to call for the manager to resolve this.
Also, I find their follow up calls rather annoying, when they come at a busy time ( anytime).A survey sheet at the end of the meal really should suffice.
