This British pub in the Marina Byblos sticks to the tried and tested formula for a venue of this type: hearty grub and plenty of hops, all reasonably priced. Fish and chips, all-day breakfast and roast dinners populate the menu, perfect for expats missing a slice of home. Meal deals include a pint, making this a good value option for a night out, especially if you’re here to watch the sport. There’s also a decent happy hour and live entertainment throughout the week. All this considered, the quick, simple and hearty food makes perfect sense for the surroundings. The bar itself isn’t the most comfortable, with the wooden chairs, tables and booths not ideal for long afternoons in the pub, and it is too brightly lit to give it a cosy feeling. Service can be unpredictable, with some staff friendly and attentive, while others dismissive and inattentive. Don’t expect too much from Nell Gwynne’s, but it’s worth popping in for the good value food and drink deals.
