What’s on offer? With ostentatious levels of decadence and bucket loads of high-end dining options and grape, this is a well-heeled foodie’s dream. A brilliantly executed menu with everything from oysters, lobster and eggs Benedict to sushi and desserts to kill for, a brunch at Traiteur is more of an event than most of its rivals. Service is second to none and the effortless flow of incredible tastes makes the experience fly by, leaving you itching to return. Weather permitting, you can opt to banquet on the hotel’s amazing al-fresco terrace, enjoying spectacular views of the creek. Winner of Best Brunch at the Time Out Restaurant Awards in 2010 and 2011, and highly commended at the 2012 awards, we couldn’t recommend Traiteur more highly.
The venue? If you’re looking for wow factor, then the opulent restaurant’s decor, inspired by a wooden ship’s hull, certainly makes a statement. Although slightly over the top, the open kitchen and tucked away buffet allow the venue to retain its restaurant vibe, leaving the chattering classes to clink their bubbly flutes and imagine they’re in France.
What sort of crowd turn out? There’s a mixture of yummy mummies dressed to the nines, young moneyed hipsters who look like they come from London’s Shoreditch, glamour pusses and smart-casual gents. Men need to look effortlessly cool, while girls should pull out a posh frock. Yet it’s a relaxed, chatty atmosphere.
Room for improvement? You’d need the bank account of an oligarch to regularly enjoy the bubbly package.
Standout dish? The freshly grilled lobster.
