• Choose organic foods where possible.
• Check the product’s ingredients list and choose items with the least amount of preservatives and stabilisers. Real food doesn’t stay good for long. Choose foods with less shelf life as they contain less or no preservatives. Try as much as possible to avoid long-life preserved foods.
• Learning to read nutrition labels is the first step to healthy eating. Look for the amount of saturated fat, carbohydrate, added sugars, and sodium per serving, then compare these between brands and choose the ones with the lowest of each.
• When you get home, compare your portion size with the recommended serving size to see how many calories you will be consuming.
