The ‘bento happy hour’ at this Japanese inspired spot knocks Dhs15 off the price of à la carte bento dishes, bringing them down to Dhs50 each and under. Currently Dubai’s longest surviving Portuguese restaurant, this venue offers a business lunch promotion that gives diners a choice of main course with a side salad or soup, plus a soft drink or water. The Scene by Simon Rimmer
An unexpected spot for a really budget meal, this British gastro haunt headed up by English celebrity chef Simon Rimmer, allows you to treat yourself with its ‘15-minute lunch’ deal, which features a choice of sandwich (egg mayonnaise or coronation chicken), soup of the day and either salad or chips as a side dish. As you may well have guessed from its name, this venue’s signature dish is Korean-style fried chicken. Choose one of the dishes from the menu (which range from golden crispy original through to Gangnam Style – we kid you not), and you’ll get it teamed with salad, pickles and rice. Opt for a meal platter that serves two to three people, and it will cost you from Dhs89, working out at Dhs44.50 or Dhs29.66 per person. Dhs89 (for two to three people). If you want a bargain feast to share with friends, Filipino fried chicken chain Max’s offers a sharing deal for four people and the menu changes each month, so you can always try a new combination of dishes.
