In a tweet: A laidback brunch with a focus on organic meat. Best for a chilled-out brunch.
The venue: Taking inspiration from the area of New York it’s named after, Tr!beca Kitchen and Bar is urban and trendy with a casual and unpretentious vibe. Exposed brick work is adorned with large paintings of singers, classic American movie icons, and graffiti-style murals of the Statue of Liberty. The outside terrace has rows of wooden benches and tables, while inside diners sit at high tables or relax on leather sofas.
The food: Tr!beca’s USP is organic and healthy food. Its brunch has a table of salads with a few choices of grains and leaves, and a chef on hand to serve you burrata. There's a pasta station serving up gnocchi and a selection of roast meats and salmon - with perfectly cooked spicy beef being our favourite. There's also a barbecue serving up sliders and sausages.
The drinks: Tr!beca serves organic grape, but disappointingly not the organic hops they have behind the bar. The mixed drinks are great, though, and shorts are also on offer. The standard drinks package includes juices and soft drinks.
The crowd: Popular with groups and couples looking for a chilled-out brunch.
The dress code: In keeping with the vibe of the place, casual is fine.
The service: Its still early days for this brunch and there were teething troubles on our visit. Over time we're sure the staff will get used to the packages and what each one entails, and the service from the live stations will sharpen up a little. At the moment it's a little haphazard though the staff are all keen.
Extras & entertainment: Tr!beca has a great DJ, who spins a selection of rare funk and soul while you dine. The venue does have a stage for live music, but there are no bands playing during brunch.
Highs & lows: The start time is a bonus for those looking for a lie-in on Fridays. The decor and atmosphere of the venue is attractive and eclectic, and the DJ provides a suitably funky soundtrack to the afternoon, but the service is in danger of letting the overall experience down.
The after party: You could nip across the balcony to Girders if you feel ready for a little more noise..
