How long have you lived in Dubai? Three years ago
Where do you like to hang out in Dubai when you’re not at work? I mainly like to hang out at JLT, Marina Walk, Tecom and of course I enjoy dining around to try new restaurants and different cuisines. My personal favourite restaurant in Dubai is Loca, it is a great Mexican restaurant with food that tastes just like back home!
What’s your top tip for visitors to Dubai? Dubai is a completely different place than most other cities, it has activities to suit every type of traveller. The main thing is to check the weather, have local currency ready and do some general research before you come visit. Make sure to do some research on what the local customs are and of course plan the main sights that you would like to visit during your vacation.
What one thing would you like to do in Dubai that you haven’t done before? I would love to go to the top of the Burj Khalifa, but 148 stories high is still a bit nerve-wracking!
What career journey did you take before joining your restaurant? I come from Dallas, Texas. I worked there most of my career, starting in a small family restaurant and working around the city in restaurants and hotels like Fairmont and Hyatt. I eventually moved to Dubai three years ago and am currently working at West 14th Oceana Beach Club, which is managed by Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts.
Why should Time Out readers try your restaurant? West 14th is a great place where you can hangout, relax and enjoy great service and an amazing steak. It’s a place where you can come see the skyline of the Dubai Marina, watch the sunset while enjoying your food and beverage while our team makes sure to take care of you.
What’s the best thing about dining at your restaurant in 2015? The meat! We are a steakhouse and take great pride in serving the best steaks possible, we have steaks coming in from the United States, Australia and Ireland, and in just about any size you can imagine to fit each of our guest needs. Along with this we are a constantly updating our menu to make sure our guests always have new and refreshing dishes to try from.
What’s your dish recommendation at your restaurant? My personal favorite is the “Beef Tiradito” raw slice beef with coconut, chili and pomegranate. Also, the Sticky Calamari is a dish that has to be tried, it’s one of our staple dishes. And of course pretty much all of the steak items are a must try!
