I have been living in Dubai for the last two years
Where do you like to hang out in Dubai when you’re not at work?
During my days off, I always prefer to visit my favorite malls, Dubai Mall & MOE. In my opinion, Dubai Mall & the fountains are the best place to have a good meal, do your shopping and relax with a cup of coffee while watching the amazing waters dance!
What’s your top tip for visitors to Dubai? I always recommend visiting Burj Khalifa since it’s the tallest building in the world at the moment. It’s a really unique experience up there!
What one thing would you like to do in Dubai that you haven’t done before? I am planning to make my first tandem jump at the Sky Dive in the very near future! I strongly believe that this flight will be one of the most exciting experiences in my whole life!
What career journey did you take before joining your restaurant? I have been working as a Chef for the 23 years. Luckily a lot of golden opportunities crossed my professional path and I have worked with several Hong Kong Master Chinese Chefs. By that time, I gained so much expertise next to those people developing my culinary skills and improving my knowledge. This career journey traveled me from Malaysia to Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, China, and now in Dubai. I could say that my life has so many similarities to Zheng He’s 7 voyages!
Why should Time Out readers try your restaurant? Time Out readers should try our newly refurbished Zheng He's in order to taste our refreshed menu and enjoy our signature dishes. Zheng He’s is the only Chinese restaurant in Dubai with a Duck Master who will carve the duck in front of your eyes!
What’s the best thing about dining at your restaurant in 2016? Everything! We are located at the one of the most impeccable locations in Dubai, Madinat Jumeirah resort. Our restaurant is situated in front of the waterways of the resort, and our guests have the opportunity to dine while enjoying views of the Burj Al Arab.
Aside from where you work, where else do you like to dine in Dubai and why? When I am not on duty, I prefer to dine out with friends and enjoy many different types of cuisines such as Japanese, Korean and European to expand my culinary flavor and knowledge.
What is the best dish you’ve ever tasted in your life and who made it? I will never forget my grandmother’s Cantonese style poached whole free range chicken served with such a simple homemade dipping sauce!
