Spacious, sleek and modern, with high ceilings and low-hanging lights inside big warehouse-style bronze lampshades, Mezzerie oozes sophistication. Hosting The Waldorf Astoria Brunch, this New York-inspired, international buffet is one to get dressed up for and is great if you’re celebrating a special occasion.
It offers a range of dishes from the hotel’s top-class restaurants, including Italian from Social by Heinz Beck and Vietnamese from Lao. There is also Asian cuisine, a vast array of fresh seafood including sushi, sashimi and oysters, cold cuts and a succulent roast featuring beef, lamb and chicken, plus all the expected trimmings. Despite the vast amount on offer, the quality is high. Middle Eastern is not forgotten, either, with shawarmas cooked and served from one of a number of live cooking stations.
The food is flavoursome, expertly prepared and presented, and reflects the high standards you’d expect from a hotel bearing the Waldorf Astoria name. Refreshing drinks are mixed to your requirements and you’ll never be without one, thanks to efficient, attentive staff.
And let’s not forget the live music, which really deserves a mention. The singer with her sultry soulful vocals provides the perfect backing track to a relaxing afternoon lunch.
The only problem you might have is getting a taxi back to the mainland. Instead, get a boat to Dubai Marina Mall from the Waldorf Astoria jetty, which is by far the most exciting, efficient and glamorous way to return from such a classy brunch. It will complete the experience and leave a lasting impression. Dhs345 (soft drinks), Dhs465 (house beverages), Dhs600 (sparkling). Fri 1pm-4pm. Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah, East Crescent, Palm Jumeirah (04 818 222204 818 2222).
