Time Out Dubai staff
Intersect by Lexus is a stylish address. From the grand leather couches to the art books hugging its walls, this eatery is chic in design and epicurean endeavours.
In its year-long run, this creative space has become more than just another restaurant in the trendy DIFC area. And with such responsibility comes the expectation of attuning to the food trends of the city, i.e. introducing a midweek evening “brunch”. Tick and tick.
Packed with organic, fresh and wholesome ingredients, the menu is dynamic and full of energy. A similar offering is available on a Friday afternoon.
Served to live acoustic covers of Norah Jones’ and Lorde’s biggest tunes, this brunch – aka dinner – is the ultimate feel-good meal.
The buffet salad bar is expansive and full of colourful ingredients all sourced locally from an organic farm in Sharjah or imported from the Mediterranean. The heirloom beetroot salad with ricotta cheese and butternut with pepitas and pumpkin seed pesto are worthy of going back for seconds (and thirds).
The starters are then brought to the table (also unlimited) with a wide selection of meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes. The baby squid served on a bed of sweet corn jus and puffed black rice hits all the right notes.
The staff is courteous and alert in topping up drinks and clearing plates. We order the chicken breast with roasted pumpkin and kale, as well as the salmon and sea bass pie for mains – both exquisitely seasoned with no unnecessary garnishes or gimmicks. It almost makes us feel like mum’s in the kitchen, making a hearty meal for us. However, while the kitchen team’s savoury tastes are spot on, the dessert offerings fail to impress. We take a culinary refuge in the fresh fruit platter and walk out with the happy memories (and flavours) of kale and purple carrots. Dhs175 (soft drinks), Dhs250 (house beverages), Wed 8pm-10pm. Dhs195 (soft drinks), Dhs295 (house beverages), Dhs495 (bubbly). Fri 1pm-4pm. Buffet and à la carte. Gate Village, Building 7, DIFC (04 355 9524). The Bottom Line Incredibly flavoursome grub that doesn’t break the budget, or bikini body goals.
