Australian café chain jones the grocer has long been a favourite among Dubai’s residents. From its cheese, grape and jazz nights at the Dusit Thani branch (we’re big fans), to its hearty breakfasts, there’s a fair chance you’ve dined in at least one of the outlets since it first threw open its doors at Al Manara in 2011. And now there’s one more, at Emirates Golf Club, bringing the number of outlets in Dubai to six, and 24 worldwide. This is the second licensed venue, after the Dusit branch on Sheikh Zayed Road.
The new eatery stands in the space previously occupied by Spike Bar on the ground floor of the clubhouse, but that’s by no means to say this is golfers-only (though we reckon the grab-and-go coffee and cake counter may well be visited by a few Calloway-clad sportsmen). Signature dishes appear on the menu, including the jones full English breakfast and buttermilk pancakes. What we’re drawn to though is this jones wagyu burger.
“The waygu burger is one of the best-selling dishes across all branches and we expect it to be just as big at Emirates Golf Club,” the jones team tells Time Out Dubai. “It’s made from marinated wagyu beef, which makes it extremely juicy and flavoursome. It’s topped with melted cheddar – or truffle brie, if you prefer – and served inside a freshly baked brioche bun.”
