Reflets takes top gong

Reflets Par Pierre Gagnaire was crowned the Best Restaurant in Dubai last night in a fun and food-filled ceremony at The Park Hyatt.

The high-end French eatery at The Intercontinental Festival City also took home Best Contemporary European and Best Newcomer, much to the delight of Head Chef Olivier Biles and Restaurant Director Etienne Haro.

“We’re stunned and delighted all at once,” said a visibly delighted Haro as he clutched his trio of awards. “It’s something that we’ve all worked hard towards and it’s amazing to be appreciated. Thank you all.”

The restaurant was awarded the accolade after much deliberation over the emirate’s best places to eat out. And, despite the tough competition, it was no surprise that the posh nosh spot and baby of six-time Michelin-starred French chef Pierre Gagnaire took home the gong. The beautiful décor, impeccable service, and, oh, the amazing food – try the chicken Pascaline, it’s to die for - set Reflets aside from the competition.

The awards ceremony at Dubai’s beautiful Park Hyatt Hotel brought together restaurateurs, chefs, and foodies from across Dubai. After a suitably delicious feast of smoked salmon followed by lamb and dark chocolate mousse, specially created by the Park Hyatt’s top chefs, nominees readied themselves for a roller coaster evening as the winners were revealed, culminating in the newly-crowned Best Restaurant at just before midnight.

Whoops and screams filled the room as each nominee was announced and chattering tables from Dubai’s top hotels pondered the competition.

Other big winners of the evening included The Madinat which took home Best Friday Brunch for Al Qasr and Best Romantic restaurant for Pier Chic while the little-known noodle spot China Sea waltzed away with the gong for Best Independent eatery.
