We take a trip to the Islands, by way of the new Trader Vic’s in JBR
There’s a gentle breeze, the palm trees are swaying, you can hear the sound of the sea, mixed drink in hand. You could be in Hawaii, right? You’re not, but you’re at the next best thing – the brand-new Trader Vic’s in JBR.
Lovers of all thing Polynesian are in for a treat now the latest branch of the popular tiki bar is open. Located at the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah on the first floor, with a terrace overlooking the sea, Trader Vic’s is the place to go for holiday vibes.
And for those looking to dine, you can dig into the bar’s signature dishes, including Trader Vic’s curries, grills, and Time Out Dubai’s favourite, jalapeño cheese balls.
The kitchen has a Chinese wood-fired oven, which at this venue will be in a glass-walled viewing box. And there are several dishes exclusive to the JBR branch, including this barbecue whole sea bream. The boneless fish fillet comes with asparagus, smoked lemon, roasted potatoes and jalapeño vinaigrette. Not in the mood for a fish? Try the Korean barbecue beef, for two, which is accompanied by a potato salad, kimchi cucumber and roasted aubergine.
The team has gone all out with the interiors, with canoes from the Taiwanese Orchid Island hanging from the ceiling, tribal masks for Papua New Guinea on the walls, fishing net orbs from Japan above tables and hand-crafted tiki statues.
The brand, which was established in 1934 by by Vic “The Trader” Bergeron, has formed a massive following over the years, with locations from London to the Seychelles and now three in Dubai.
