If you have signed up for a Time Out City Card you should have already started to save money when dining in Dubai.

No doubt you have your own favourites and are putting the City Card to good use.

But if you are short of ideas why not try one of these deals at five selected Arabic restaurants.

Xennya: If you thought Arabic food was all about shawarmas and houmus you’ve been misled. Xennya represents the fine dining side of the Arabic cooking spectrum. Expect lobster dishes, creamy sauces and marinated fruits to feature at some point.

Shahrzad: Don’t head along to Shahrzad if you want a quiet meal or a quick snack. This Hyatt Regency restaurant has a lively house band and dancing and is more suited to big celebrations. Even if you don’t have a special occasion you can always appreciate the 20 per cent discount.

Shabestan: The mere fact that Shabestan picked up a highly commended award at the 2009 Time Out Restaurant Awards should be enough for you. If you do need more, however, we’re offering a 15 per cent discount and a promise of more live music.

Lahab: When it fulfils its potential the Dubailand complex will be a multi-faceted playground of the world. Until then one of the few highlights is the always diverting Al Sahra resort. If you’re heading up for a show don’t forget your City Card and you can save money on the character-filled Arabic food.

Persia Persia: We’ve always loved the surroundings at Wafi. Considering the fact that it is a fake Egyptian tomb and a hive of tourist-friendly decorations it is all done surprisingly well. It has a distinct charm. If you’re in the neighbourhood check out Persia Persia and flash your City Card to save some cash.
