Time Out Dubai has information on a Food Truck Brunch launching in Dubai this weekend. Also get details on Calle Tacos, Yumtingz, Toasted, Bio Bean and more
There’s nothing Dubai loves more than a weekend brunch – well except maybe the new food truck phenomenon that is taking over the emirate. And now foodie fans can have the best of both world when Food Truck Brunch launches.
Taking place for the first time this Saturday (February 13) street food aficionados may just lose their minds as restaurant vans come together for the ultimate feast.
Get ready to brunch on Yumtingz’s off-the-hook burgers and Calle Tacos’ um… tacos, while chilling out on the lawn of Emirate Golf Club.
Eight other vehicles will be on site to cater to your unlimited food and house beverage needs from 12-4pm. Adult drinks will be served and live music will entertain crowds every other Saturday until the end of its season on April 16.
It’s all yours for a reasonable Dhs285 during the day while from 5pm to 11pm it’s free entry for the Food Truck Jam set up where you can purchase per meal.
Other names taking part include Moti Roti, Toasted, Bio Bean, The Shebi and Gobai.
Get to know some of the names at Food Truck Brunch and Food Truck Jam: Calle Tacos This moving taco shop, first of an upcoming spree launched in collaboration with consultancy Roundup by 54 East. Created by a husband-and-wife team, Calle Tacos literally means ‘street tacos’ in Spanish and takes its inspiration from LA’s Mexican food culture, serving tacos (of course), nachos, burritos and quesadillas. These guys are not really as Caribbean as they sound, but don’t let that deter you from giving the menu a try, because you’ll find some very yummy ‘tingz’ on it. Think burgers, including a camel meat option, sides such as truffle fries, and salads including roasted root or quinoa tabbouleh. Instagram:@yumtingz (056 454 2782). Bio Bean
This van takes its name from the two twin arms of its concept. Bio reflects the new food truck’s focus on organic and healthy eating options, including gluten-free and vegan dishes, while Bean reflects the emphasis on coffee, since the company will be serving freshly roasted organic coffee, with a variety of different flavoured cuppas. www.biobean.com (04 224 9688).
GObai This truck’s focus is on street food fusion, built around the flavours of Goa, brought to you here in Dubai. Hence the name. Beyond the food, there is also an ethical arm to this concept, because it will be using biodegradable packaging, as well as other carbon footprint-friendly kitchen practices. Once launched later this month, you’ll find GObai at Ripe Market, Times Square Center. Instagram: @GObaiFoodTruck.
Music to the ears of lacto-philes (that's nearly everyone), because Toasted: Grilled Cheese & More specialises in gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. Also on the menu you’ll find fish and chips, hotdogs and custom fries. www.toasteddubai.com.
