Dubai's new desert dining spot Qasr Al Sultan opens in January

Dubai's new desert dining spot Qasr Al Sultan opens in January

When you think of desert experiences in the UAE, dune bashing, camel races and camping under the stars are probably the first things that spring to mind.

That’s about to change thanks to a novel dining concept set to be unveiled in January by Dubai Gourmet, a new subdivision of Dubai-based holding company Meraas.

The key notion behind this business is experiential dining. In other words, an eating out experience which is more than just about tasting food.

The first of these multisensory dining spots is Qasr Al Sultan, which will give visitors the chance to enjoy the ‘life of a Sultan’.

According to Meraas, it will be located in the desert, close to The Outlet Village and Dubai Parks and Resorts, and have a Middle Eastern theme throughout.

Guests can look forward to traditional performances, a grand food bazaar, live cooking stations and an authentic Arabian souk.

It looks as if Qasr Al Sultan’s desert surroundings will mean it emulates ancient fortified medinas more than other Arabian-themed outlets in Dubai.

But there are plenty more experiential dining spots to come by Meraas! What would you like to see? A Montmartre-themed French foodie boulevard? A Spanish tapas trail street? We’ll just have to wait and see!
