Time Out Dubai takes a look at the new summer menu
After a two-week summer break, Marina Social is back with some fresh, new offerings.
Jason Atherton’s eatery – which won Time Out Dubai’s Best European Restaurant 2017 – has had a menu revamp with a whopping 18 new dishes added, making it the largest overhaul since the restaurant’s opening in 2015.
The updated list focuses on fresh, seasonal British ingredients and consists largely of classic homeland dishes with modern twists, such as asparagus with a two-hour slow-cooked egg (Dhs75) and roast chicken with truffle creamed savoy cabbage (Dhs175).
“We’ve brought it back a bit with this menu and kept it very British,” head chef Craig Best tells Time Out Dubai.
Dishes are also green. Very green.
And the greenest of them all is a risotto of fresh peas, wet garlic and truffle (Dhs90).
“We use wet garlic as it’s super-fresh,” adds Best. “Unlike the garlic you buy in the supermarket, this is straight from the ground, from our UK supplier. We try to use truffle on at least one dish on the menu, too, so we expect this one will be popular.”
The new menu was devised with the Marina Social team, while Jason Atherton was over in Dubai earlier this summer.
“All of Jason’s restaurants have a similar feel,” adds Best. “You could be in the UK with this menu. Many of our guests have been to Jason’s restaurants in London and want to try here, so it’s similar, but different.”
There’s also a traditional rump of lamb (with greens – courgette basil purée and baby gem salad Dhs175) to satisfy meat-lovers, while poached cod with beurre noisette, lemon butter sauce and leek and potato (Dhs150), will please fish fans.
With around 65 percent of guests hailing from the UK, undoubtedly these dishes will go some way to curing any pangs for a British summer (until you step outside).
