Meat, chicken and giant grilled cheese on Dubai sandwich hub’s menu in JLT
Sandwich-lovers, listen up. Gravy fans, lend us your ear. A brand-new sandwich shop has opened in JLT, and you’re going to want a slice of the action.
Operating out of Kitchen Nation, Dubai’s first “culinary incubator” (essentially a start-up space, but specially designed for food entrepreneurs), Dip Street is already taking the city’s appetites by storm.
Only a few weeks old and still in development, the menu is short, but packed with crowd-pleasers. And everything comes served with either a bowl of its own specially paired gravy or tomato sauce. The BBQ Pulled Beef stars slow-cooked beef shank smothered in barbecue sauce, topped with sauerkraut and melted cheddar cheese; the Beef Dip features roast beef and melted cheese, served with a beef au jus dip; and the Jerk Chicken Dip comes packed with, you guessed it, roast jerk chicken and melted cheese, served with a chicken au jus dip.
The more-than-aptly named “Cheese Overload” exceeds its promise, starring a house-blend cheese mixed with cheddar, mozzarella, Edam and Havarti, all melted between two slices of grilled milk toast and served with a homemade tomato sauce, mimicking that classic American combination. And if you can’t get enough of your carbohydrates, look no further than the towering Grilled Mac ’n’ Cheese, which delivers exactly what it promises (with a hint of chipotle, for good measure).
Save room (seriously, do) for dessert – magnificent sticks of cinnamon-sugar-coated French toast, served with Canadian maple syrup and either caramel sauce or peanut butter caramel sauce.
Set up by the team behind (currently closed) Fraîche in JLT, who also run the vegan- and vegetarian-friendly Hippy Deli from the very same spot, Dip Street offers dine-in at its Kitchen Nation location in Cluster Y, or delivery exclusively through Deliveroo.
