Dubai has a brand-new restaurant, now open in DIFC, and with it comes a fresh new approach to dining.
BB, a new restaurant and bar, has just opened up on Happiness Street in Dubai’s DIFC, and it’s all about “social dining”.
What that means at BB is giving guests the freedom to design their own experiences, thanks to single-plate meals, the “shabu-shabu hotpot”, which cooks on your table, note pads and pens provided for you to jot your ideas down on, or perhaps reflections of the meal experience and mobile phone chargers to ensure you remain connected throughout your meal.
As well as this quirky table set-up, the food is equally inventive and unusual. Your “social dining” experience will see you choose from baos, bowls, salads and grills, plus inventive sweet creations.
Elements of the East are found throughout the menu, drawing on fresh, simple ingredients combined in well-conceived, accessibly priced dishes. Highlights include super green hummus, cauliflower popcorn, and caramelised Brussels sprouts, plus grilled lamb, wagyu beef skewers, “bang bang chicken” and duck bao for meat-lovers.
For the sweet-toothed there are desserts including the BB waffle complete with a syringe of salted caramel, and the Fry Pan Brownie, perfect for sharing.
“BB defies categorisation as a regionally created concept – we walk our own path as owners, as a kitchen, and as a destination,” said Shabnum Stumpf, founder of BB. “Through our bold approach to social dining – demonstrated by our menu, our interiors, our service and our community, BB is creating a new form of niche hospitality… We are close to our community and listen to what our guests want, but we do things differently through our food, drinks, and entire experience. People who enjoy social dining at BB deserve a continued evolution of our menu and way of serving them – it reflects the region’s appetite for a creative, bold approach.”
