Cakes, noodles and more as a pit-stop from the shops
There’s nothing we enjoy more than an excuse to refuel during a marathon mission around The Dubai Mall, and happily there are three new openings to satisfy any hunger pangs and allow you to rest your weary feet (and credit cards).
Cova The world-famous Italian bakery Cova is set to open in The Dubai Mall in February. It will be the first Middle Eastern venue of the famous Italian pasticceria and will be set next to The Dubai Fountain, for stunning post-shopping views.
Founded in 1817, today Cova is a globally-recognised brand that “celebrates tailored craftsmanship and creativity in its confectionary”.
Interiors will be elegant and chic (think mosaic tiles, chandeliers and Italian marble), while the food is also traditional Italian.
The home-grown Middle Eastern street food chain’s newest opening boasts all the favourites, as well as some special items such as kunafa.
It’s a tenth location for Operation: Falafel, and other branches include The Beach, opposite JBR, BoxPark and Kite Beach. There’s also a soon-to-open spot in Dubai Media City. Open daily 10am-1am. The Dubai Mall, Downtown Dubai (04 329 2936).
wagamama A new flagship location of this popular Japanese chain is opening this week at the massive shopping centre. The restaurant will open in the Star Atrium on Wednesday (January 31), and will bring the total number of locations across the UAE to five, with two more planned later this year.
This will be the first in the UAE to feature the same interiors as in the London flagship branch in Covent Garden and will seat 156 diners, spanning over 4,000 sq ft, with an outdoor terrace.
So if you love chicken katsu curry, ramen or yakisoba, you know where to head. Opening January 31. The Dubai Mall, Downtown Dubai, www.wagamama.ae.
