Carnivores of the city will be thrilled that a brand-new restaurant specialising in smoked meat is opening in Dubai this month.
SMK (Smoked Meat Kitchen) is soon to open at beachside location La Mer, with a team who have been trained at London’s Smokestak – a barbecue restaurant in Shoreditch.
SMK will be led by British “smoke master” Luke Tully, and the restaurant will serve up slow-cooked meat. Signature dishes included the brisket bun, served with picked red chilli, to lend a “fruity heat”. The meat is served in a specially baked bun.
Other dishes included dry-aged beef ribs with picked chilli. Prices start at Dhs35 for barbecue-glazed smoked chicken wings with a blue cheese dip. Smoked beef ribs with celery coleslaw come in at Dhs90.
“SMK serves up slow-cooked meat smoked over English oak and topped off with homemade rubs to season the cuts,” says the team behind it. “The cooking process is by smoking, rather than direct grilling, which allows the meat to become tender and succulent.”
The restaurant itself is minimal, with food as the main focus.
