You can now belt out some tunes at the fancy Chinese restaurant
Fancy singing along to a bit of Mariah with your Peking duck? Air guitaring post-sweet and sour chicken? Chinese restaurant Maiden Shanghai has launched a brand-new karaoke room, so you can enjoy belting out some top tunes alongside Cantonese classics.
Karaoke is fast-becoming the makings of a top night out here in Dubai (hello, Lucky Voice) and the latest to hop on this bandwagon is this Palm Jumeirah spot.
The restaurant at the super-cool FIVE Palm Jumeirah Dubai now has its own karaoke room, so if you’re a budding Beyoncé, you’re in luck. The multi-language karaoke room at Maiden Shanghai is fully soundproofed, so you don’t need to worry about hitting those high notes either. The room can fit up to 15 people, making it a top choice for a private party.
Bookings need to be made in advance, and the room is available for diners only, although there’s no additional cost. You can book the room for one or two hours, too, depending on your singing abilities.
And when you dine before or after your singalong, you can try the new menu.
The restaurant prides itself on MSG-free dishes using organic ingredients. The new menu “showcases a tempting fusion of traditional dishes with creative renditions of Chinese classics”, so says the team.
Dishes on the new bistro menu include kung pao chicken, sweet and sour chicken and Peking duck, which all come from chef Luo Bing and are inspired by flavours from the four Chinese cuisines – Cantonese, Sichuan, Shanghai and Beijing.
If you fancy dining at lunch there’s also a new Dhs99 special, where you’ll get a range of dishes – including veggie and gluten-free options. Favourites include egg fried rice, shredded duck with pancakes and sweetcorn soup. The menu is available from noon until 3.30pm seven days a week. Karaoke available daily 7pm-2am.
